Helping couples navigate old stuck patterns and feel more content and connected.

Is this your relationship?

You love each other and overall have a great relationship, but find that you keep getting into the same fight over and over. You find yourself fighting over small things – unloading the dishwasher, a dirty sock on the floor, a small offhanded comment – but don’t understand why you’re getting so upset about it. You’ve tried different ways to fix it, but always end up feeling the same way – disappointed, disconnected, and exhausted.

You’ve likely been feeling this way for a while, but recently you’ve realized that what you are doing hasn’t been working. It is so painful to feel alone and disconnected from your partner, when what you really want is to feel connected and supportive of each other. If you’re reading this now, it’s because a part of you knows that you can find better ways to connect and communicate and you are ready to do the work.

My Approach

Hi, I’m Becky, and I am passionate about working with couples who are struggling with connection and communication. I am empathic and curious, and I listen thoughtfully to really understand what each partner in the relationship is feeling and where those feelings are coming from. I offer compassion, reflection, and feedback to help you figure out where you are getting stuck and what you each can do differently to create a better relationship. I am an engaged and involved therapist who cares deeply about my clients and I am passionate about helping you learn how to communicate to be able to feel more connected and resolve issues on your own.

I have training in Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy (EFT) which is a model of therapy that looks at the cycles of disconnection that couples get stuck in, and works to create a greater sense of safety and connection so you can communicate your needs and desires to you partner in a more effective way and actually address the underlying issues that cause this disconnect.

Eating disorders, Health at every size, & Couples

I have a particular focus in working with couples in which one or both partners are struggling with or are in recovery from an eating disorder/disordered eating. Body changes are a part of recovery, and a part of life, and this can bring up a lot of feelings in relationships as well. Because I specialize in working with eating disorders/disordered eating and use Health at Every Size as a foundation of my work, I value helping couples navigate these challenges together. Relationships can be a source of pain or an incredible source of support for someone in recovery, and being in recovery brings its own unique dynamics to the relationship. By using my foundational understanding of couple dynamics and my knowledge and experience of eating disorders/disordered eating/body image concerns, I am able to help couples address these issues and strengthen your relationship as a whole.
