My Approach

I am a relational therapist, which means the relationship between you and me is the most important aspect of our work. With warmth, insight, and empathy, I create a space for you to feel accepted and supported just as you are. Working with the therapeutic relationship is a profound way to create meaningful and lasting change. I use a combination of psychodynamic, collaborative/humanistic, and mindfulness approaches when working with clients. Psychodynamic therapy helps to increase insight and awareness of how your past experiences and relationships may be affecting you today so you can make changes to these unconscious patterns if they are no longer serving you. My collaborative and humanistic approach helps us work together to understand what you are struggling with and to create space for your inner wisdom to unfold, and means I see you as a whole human being with your own unique challenges and strengths. I always welcome feedback to make sure that our work together is feeling supportive to you. I also use mindfulness and self-compassion to help manage the overwhelming emotions and anxiety that come with being human.

Through this combination of approaches we will start by first identify together where you are stuck and what is bothering you most. Then, we will use tools and skills to help you manage whatever you are struggling with, and engage in deeper exploration to create a deeper sense of trust and connection with yourself. We will understand the root of the issue so you can create meaningful and lasting change. Many of my clients find that not only do the issues they come in to therapy with resolve, but they gain a greater understanding of themselves and other areas of their lives improve as a result.
